Arriving and Leaving

Signing in & Out

To ensure staff are aware of which children are at preschool at anytime a parent/carer must sign the attendance book when they arrive/depart with the child to/from the preschool, the attendance sheet needs to be signed and the time documented. The attendance sheets are a legal document, so should only be written on by a responsible adult, not children.

Arriving at Preschool

In the morning, please encourage your child to unpack their own school bag, put their lunch box, morning tea box and drink bottle in the appropriate basket and hang their bag in their locker and their towel in the bathroom. We ask that you not do it for them as they are quite capable of doing it themselves. Knowing the routine and limits of an environment and being able to work within them creates security and independence for your children.

On sunny days make sure your child is wearing sun block which is available in the locker room. Each child will be given a Neem Mozzie Repellent which will have their name on and which will be kept in their pocket. Please ensure that your child has mozzie repellent on in the summer. All children must wear a hat during summer when playing outdoors. Children are encouraged to wish a Good Morning to all staff and fellow students.

Leaving Preschool at the end of the day

Children are to be collected by their parent or authorised carer, who has written permission from the parents only. Staff must be notified in advance as to who will be picking up the child if it is not the parent. Any variation in the pickup routine should be detailed in the Day Book which is located in the locker room and their Educators also advised verbally. Children are to stay inside until their Parent/Carer has arrived. Children are not permitted to play in the Preschool playground during this time. For their safety, they are to remain inside until they go home.
Please check that your child has all of his or her property. Children are encouraged to say goodbye to their Educators and their fellow students when they leave for the day.
If you would like to talk to Educators about your child’s day or read the Daily Diary, please plan to return to the Preschool half an hour before centre close as staff have other responsibilities at closing time.
